Welcome to Nick DeMoss #5
News & Results
-Boogieman at County line Speedway
Nick DeMoss had a great weekend at the "Boogieman". There would be many
great cars on hand to contend for the coveted title of 2008 "Boogieman"
Champion. Nick would once again conquer the task at hand and become the 2008
"Boogieman" Champion. This would be the 3rd win of the season for the 2007
English Creek Speedway Champion. Nick commented on his win, "This was a
great fun race, it was a challenge to get by the #5Jr & the #07 but setup
was great and very easy to drive making my job simple". "I would just like
to thank all my sponsors:

-Got Milk? Fall Nationals
Nick DeMoss had a very successful weekend finish 2nd in
the A Feature of the 2008 Got Milk Nationals!
Newton Kart Klub 5-3-08
Saturday May 3, 2008 was a very cool
evening at the race track. With the World of Outlaws running just 30 miles
from the track, the kart count suffered a little. Our team still has not
figured out the motor problem completely as we lost another motor during hot
laps. Because of this, we didn’t want to ruin another one so our plan was
to go out and only be on the gas for short periods of time to allow the
engine to get plenty of lubrication and fuel. By running our motors in this
manner, we were able to win both heat races and the feature without blowing
up the motor. The problem isn’t completely solved, however, it is getting
better. The highlight of the night was having Nikolas Ball at the races.
He was able to come and cheer on our team and even take home the winning
trophy! I want to thank my dad, Larry, Jody, and all of my sponsors for
their help this year. Our next race is Saturday May, 10.
Don’t forget about the benefit for Nikolas
that is at Dyer Hudson on May 9. All the information is on the main page.
Thanks, Nick DeMoss
Newton Kart Klub 4-27-08
After many days of rain, and almost every track in the
Midwest canceling their events, the sun was able to
come out long enough to dry up the track in Newton,
Iowa. Our night did not start out very well as our
team blew up 2 motors during hot laps. We were only
able to get one car ready in time for the heat race,
so I was unable to run in the first heat race. During
that heat race, my teammate Jamie Ball was checked out
and cruising to the win as the white flag was waving.
Unfortunately, as he entered turn one, we lost another
motor. Not wanting to hurt a 4th motor, we bolted our
last one on my car and went out and ran two laps at
speed and then pulled in during the 2nd heat to see if
our jetting was right. We weren’t sure if the motor
would live for the feature, but we risked it anyway.
We were able to be challenging for lead after only a
few laps. There were a few times we were able to duck
under the leader, but the motor would cut out coming
out of the corner, allowing the leader to get back
around us. We were able to finish the race right on
the leader’s bumper which was a huge positive for our
team. We are going to spend the rest of this week
dynoing our motors to see if we can find the problem
before next weeks races. We are confident that we
will find the problem, and will be in the winners
circle very soon. We would like to thank all of our
sponsors for their continued support. It wouldn’t be
possible without their help.
March 28th & 29th - Sandbox Arena - New Richmond,
Wisconsin
Our team started the weekend off with a lot of
trouble. During the first set of hot laps, our team
lost two motors, and then lost a 3rd motor in the 2nd
set of hot laps.
We spent all day Saturday repairing our engines and
getting them ready to race Saturday night.
Unfortunately for us, we thought our problem was the fact
we were just too lean so we really richened up our
motors. After blowing another engine during hot laps
on Saturday we were lost.
We finally found our problem just before the heat
races, but just didn't have enough time to get the
motor tuned exactly like we would have liked. In our
heat race we started 6th and was working on making a
pass for 3rd place when some cars started spinning
collecting the 2nd place car and the 3rd place car.
That put us in second place under the yellow. During
that yellow the race was called, and we later found out
that the track reverted back to the last lap and we
were scored 4th. This put us on the outside of the
4th row for the feature. On the start of the feature
we were able to pass a guy who was running on the
bottom and then dove under two other cars. One of the
cars that we were under must not have seen us, and
turned down into our kart. Both of us started
spinning, but we were able to keep our kart under
power and kept going. Unfortunately, our left rear
tire got flattened in the spin which really loosened
up the car. Our motors still weren't running at full
strength, and on the restart, the guy behind us ran up
on us in the corner nudging our rear bumper and I was
unable to save it and we spun. The officials pulled
us in the infield for safety reasons, ending our
night.
On Sunday we spent the morning tuning our cars to get
the motors running better than they were on Saturday.
My teammate started 5th and I started 8th in the
second heat race. Jamie was able to capture 2nd and I
was a close 3rd. This put us on the outside of the
3rd row for the feature.
In the feature our motor was hitting strong and our
kart was almost perfect on the set up. We were able
to grab 2nd place after about 6 laps of the 15 lap
feature. By the time we were able to get to 2nd
place, the leader was a straight away ahead of us. In
about 3 laps we were able to close the gap. A caution put us on his bumper and in two laps I was able to take the lead
coming out of turn 3 and started to widen our lead
when some cars spun at the flag stand as I was hitting
the backstretch. The yellow came out and this negated
our pass. After about 6 caution laps the race got
back underway. However, the long caution let the
tires cool down and it took us about 3 laps to get to
the pace we were before the yellow. About the time we
started to get back on pace was when the white flag
was waving and we had to settle for a runner up
position with my teammate Jamie Ball finishing 3rd.
After our troubles this weekend, we were pretty happy
with our results. Check out our schedule and check
back often for updates.
March 21, 2008 - Texoma Motor Speedway - Witchita
Falls, Texas
This was the first ever
National Winged Outlaw Karts (NWOK) event. The weather was great for the
first outdoor race of the 2008 season. We started the night on the
pole of the heat race and we were able to check out, winning by more than a
full second on an 8 second track. This gave us the pole for the
feature. Unfortunately, the Texas air was too good, as it started to
lean our motor down. We weren't able to be as fast as
we should have been, but we were still able to come home with a 3rd place
finish. We look to better that finish next week as we will be
attending the Sandbox Invitational race in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Please check back later for more updates.
